Role Overview As the EHS Lead for U.S. Facilities, you will establish, oversee, and scale Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs across all U.S. sites including manufacturing, R&D, and operations. You will drive regulatory compliance, risk management, safety culture, and ensure safe, sustainable operations as 1X grows. You will work directly with leadership to build programs from the ground up, especially for new manufacturing facilities, and serve as a key liaison with regulatory bodies. Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain EH&S programs that comply with federal, state, and local regulations across all U.S. sites. Lead development of EH&S protocols for new manufacturing facilities, from initial design through full operation. Conduct risk assessments and audits, develop corrective actions, and ensure timely remediation. Build and promote a safety‑first culture through training, communication, and direct engagement with employees and teams. Collaborate cross‑functionally to develop policies and procedures that enable safe work practices. Track and report EH&S key performance indicators (KPIs), incident investigations, and compliance metrics to leadership. Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies; manage compliance initiatives, permitting, and external inspections. Develop and maintain programs such as Hazard Identification, Incident Investigation. Monitor environmental compliance — including handling, storage, disposal of hazardous and non‑hazardous materials; manage HAZMAT requirements. Develop and implement Emergency Action and Emergency Response Plans; lead employee training, including proper use of PPE and safety practices. Maintain safety incident records and ensure OSHA reporting requirements are met. Schedule/ on call/ around the clock/ weekends as needed
