Senior Medical Director - Anesthesiology, Surgical Services - System

Job Description: The Senior Medical Director of Anesthesiology, Surgical Operations provides strategic direction, leadership, oversight, and support for the systemwide Intermountain Department of Anesthesiology. This Senior Medical Director develops a culture of highly reliable, best care for patients and communicates effectively with all Anesthesiologists and associated Advanced Practice Clinicians (CRNA's) across the Intermountain system. This position also partners and collaborates with leaders in Clinical Programs, Operational Lanes, Shared Clinical Services, Shared Support Services, Research & Academics, Intermountain Foundation, Select Health and other aligned payers as well as the Specialty and Community Based Care Group and Clinical Services to create a professional and positive environment for patients to receive care and for providers to do their work. This position champions provider growth and development, innovation, and continuous improvement. Importantly, this leader promotes excellence in the fundamentals of extraordinary care by engaging physicians, APPs, and affiliated teams across Intermountain Health in a focus on Safety, Quality, Patient Experience, Access, and Stewardship. This position is responsible to oversee all Anesthesia related components of patient care including preventative medicine, community support networks, collaborations with primary care, pre-admission work up, perioperative care, anesthesia best practice and post-discharge anesthesia care when relevant. The Senior Medical Director of Anesthesiology, Surgical Operations will work collaboratively with the Associate Chief Medical Officer, Hospitals, Nursing and Operations officers to define, establish, and oversee the work of Surgical Operations, working collaboratively with all disciplines including Clinical Programs, specialty care, community care, shared clinical services, and clinically integrated networks. Provides leadership, oversight and support for the development of a culture of high reliability and the measurement of care, identifying opportunities, building relationships and executing on strategies to drive the performance and measured improvement of all Surgical Operations and perform all needed tasks necessary to provide efficient, high-quality patient care. Responsible in tandem with operations and nursing officers for the administrative, financial and clinical performance of the operating rooms of Intermountain. The Senior Medical Director will assist in maintain an appropriate operating room environment. Scope This is a system-wide leadership role with key organizational relationships across Intermountain Health with a specific focus on leading the performance and continuous improvement of Anesthesiology and Surgical Services.
