Meet the Team
This is an outstanding opportunity to join Cisco's Regulatory Affairs group on the Cyber and National Security Legal Team. You will advise on developing and existing cybersecurity and national security regulations worldwide and counsel the business on regulatory compliance, including how to meet customer expectations on these topics. You will partner closely with your colleagues on the Regulatory Affairs team and across Cisco Legal, as well as Government Affairs, the Security and Trust Organization (S&TO), Engineering, Sales, and Corporate Affairs.
Your Impact
Your primary responsibilities will be to:
Act as the subject-matter expert and resource across a range of regulatory issues, including cyber and national security regulations around the world.
Counsel your legal colleagues, product engineering, go-to-market teams, and other business teams on global cyber and national security regulations and develop Cisco policies and implementation plans to meet our compliance obligations and customer expectations on these topics.
Assist with responses to regulatory inquiries and investigations.
Develop and implement Cisco's strategy with respect to evolving laws and regulations and Cisco's commitments related to them.
Support Cisco's regional Government Affairs leads on their work related to emerging regulatory trends and frameworks that impact Cisco's business.
Minimum Qualifications:
Law degree (J.D. or non-U.S. equivalent), with excellent academic credentials. You are a licensed attorney in good standing in one or more jurisdictions where Cisco does business.
10 years of relevant legal, in-house, and/or law firm experience.
Substantive legal experience and knowledge in regulatory and/or corporate policy matters involving cybersecurity and national security.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience with both U.S. and non-U.S. (e.g., European) cybersecurity regulations.
Sharp judgment and exceptional communication skills: you have the ability to move fluently across legal, security, and business teams — translating complex regulatory issues into clear, actionable insights for any audience.
A run-toward-the-problem attitude: you don't wait for issues to raise or for someone else to step in. When challenges emerge, you're already in motion, bringing clarity and calm to high-stakes situations.
The ability to build trust and influence: you know how to bring people along, earn credibility quickly, and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders.
A deep sense of ownership and accountability: you treat the team's success as your own. You follow through, close loops, and hold yourself to a high standard without being asked.
