Job Description:
The RN Clinical Expanded Role will serve as a service line specialist, focusing on one area of expertise within a specific hospital or care site department. This role is responsible for identifying, coordinating, and evaluating projects and assignments related to their specialty. The RN Clinical Expanded Role provides clinical expertise, consultation, education, and research to their designated area, acting as a change agent by accepting and facilitating change. The incumbent is proactive and assumes a clinical leadership position.

Shift Details: Part time - working one 9 hour shift one week and two 9 hour shifts the next. 27 hours per pay period. Days of the week may vary based on business need. Clinic hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm but this group may need to take call. **Must be available 2-3 shifts per week during orientation period **
Days of the week may vary. Must be available to staff caregivers appropriately, which includes working outside regular clinic hours for Operating Room procedures.
Unit/Location: Intermountain Medical Center Building 7
Primary Responsibilities:
• Prepare and facilitate prenatal clinics for Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians.
• Handle OB office communication duties like lab results, patient concerns, triage, and patient education.
• Work independently and within a team to support multiple nursing responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform traditional OB office tasks and provide outpatient medication and injections.
• Coordinate and schedule OR procedures for Maternal Fetal Medicine cases.
• Assist and support Diagnostic Center physicians and team with procedures.
• Coordinate and attend fetal transfusion procedures in Labor & Delivery
• Provide care coordination and scheduling support for Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians from outside locations.
• Adapt to shifting priorities based on patient care needs and physician support.
Desired Experience:
5 years of Labor & Delivery experience.
Operating room experience, background in Women’s Health, and high-risk pregnancy care.
Essential Functions
Provides expertise in specialty areas; participates in clinical programs and policy development; supports standardization of care protocols.
Educate and mentor nursing staff and other healthcare professionals on best practices and new developments in the specialty area. Uses research to improve nursing practice and develop care standards.
Represents department on committees and works with healthcare team to coordinate and optimize patient care. Acts as consultant and liaison to healthcare team, patients, families, and community.
Promote and integrate evidence-based practices into clinical care, staying current with the latest research and advancements in specialty area.
Directs and coordinates care team; provides or delegates care according to plan and licensure guidelines; manages time, supplies, and resources.
Promotes nursing profession; integrates legal and ethical standards; practices within scope of licensure, complies with regulatory standards and documentation requirements.
Uses assessment data and critical thinking to develop individualized care plans; involves patients, families, and team members.
Reviews patient response to interventions; revises care plans as needed based on goal achievement and satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (degree will be verified). Registered Nurses (RNs) hired or promoted into this role must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of their hire or promotion date. If there is an existing education agreement, that agreement will take precedence.
