The Application Analyst - Pharmacist promotes the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by our service behavior standards. The role integrates pharmacy expertise with information systems to improve healthcare outcomes through the design, implementation, and support of pharmacy-related systems and technologies. This position is pivotal in enhancing the medication use process, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines, and optimizing patient safety and care. The role involves coordinating, developing, and maintaining systems across an integrated healthcare delivery network while providing expert clinical consultation

This is a Monday - Friday position. Normal business hours (generally 8am-5pm). Limited On-Call expectations which may include some evenings and holidays.
Essential Functions
Develops and maintains clinical content for the pharmacy information systems, including inpatient and ambulatory electronic medical records (EMR), including but not limited to clinical decision support, dose checking, order sets, drug information, formulary restrictions and formulary integrity.
Provides leadership in the design and implementation of pharmacy decision support systems to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Partners with clinical users to support the safe and effective use of pharmacy systems.
Collaborates with clinical teams to develop and refine medication use processes, ensuring compliance with medication safety standards.
Participates in the planning, design, testing, and implementation of new applications or system enhancements.
Provides ongoing support for pharmacy applications and responds to system-related issues.
Supports training and the adoption of new technologies and systems within the pharmacy department.
Assists in ensuring that pharmacy information systems comply with regulatory guidelines and standards.
Use basic project management skills to plan, schedule and monitor progress to meet project deliverables
Directs the efforts of Application Analysts in the design, coding, testing, implementing, and documentation required for an application.
Skills
Proficiency with EMR systems (i.e. Epic, Cerner or other pharmacy information systems).
Strong knowledge of pharmacy workflows in healthcare systems and experience in medication policy and formulary management.
Ability to lead project deliverables, including implementation and support of pharmacy systems.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and after-hours support, to meet project and system requirements.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to maintain certification required for the job position (i.e. Epic Willow certification).
Ability to provide leadership and guidance to other members of the team (application or project).
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and law.
Minimum Qualifications
PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
Active license to practice pharmacy and dispense controlled substances.
Experience in clinical pharmacy practice or completion of an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in Epic EHR
Willow Inpatient certification (Epic)
Experience working in acute care (Hospital based)
Physical Requirements
Frequent use of computers, phones, and other technology-related equipment.
