We're bringing on experienced scientists/engineers to help us create the real-time logistics platform that powers DoorDash’s three-sided marketplace of consumers, merchants, and dashers. You will be reporting to an Operations Research manager and this will be a hybrid role.</p><h1><strong>About the Role</strong></h1><p>Operations Research Scientists on the Assignment team have the opportunity to dive into a wealth of logistics data, and use advanced optimization and machine learning techniques to maximize the value for our consumers, dashers, merchants, and DoorDash. You will be reporting to an Operations Research manager and this will be a hybrid role.</p><h1><strong>You're excited about this opportunity because you will...</strong></h1><ul><li>Design and implement new algorithm components within our production dispatching system to meet emerging requirements</li><li>Integrate state-of-the-art optimization and machine learning techniques to improve the efficiency and quality of our dispatching decisions</li><li>Extract insights from logistics system through analyzing data and modeling and translate those insights into production algorithm components</li><li>Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, product managers, business operators, and more to develop cross-cutting and scalable solutions to guide value for our consumers, dashers, and merchants</li></ul><h1><strong>We're excited about you because you have...</strong></h1><ul><li>PhD. or masters in operations research, industrial engineering, computer science or a related field</li><li>3+ years of research or industry experience working on complex optimization problems through mathematical programming or metaheuristics</li><li>Programming fundamentals, experience in object-oriented and functional programming languages, and an understanding of algorithms</li><li>Must be comfortable regularly exercising discretion and independent judgment in performing job duties, including evaluating options, making informed decisions, and determining appropriate courses of action within the scope of assigned responsibilities.</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p>Notice to Applicants for Jobs Located in NYC or Remote Jobs Associated With Office in NYC Only</p><p>We use Covey as part of our hiring and/or promotional process for jobs in NYC and certain features may qualify it as an AEDT in NYC. <p>The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.</p>
