You’ll help create new backend services that manage how we deploy, scale, and operate our infrastructure and product services, leveraging Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate (JPA) on top of cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Istio, and Terraform.</p> <p>This role is highly impactful: the systems you build will be used across Postman engineering, enabling faster delivery, better scalability, and a stronger developer experience. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to open source, shaping tools that extend beyond Postman’s boundaries.</p> <h2>What You’ll Do</h2> <ul> <li>Design and develop backend services in Java and Spring Boot to support Postman’s internal Cloud Platform.<br><br></li> <li>Architect new services that manage service deployment, lifecycle, and scaling across Kubernetes clusters.<br><br></li> <li>Implement GitOps workflows (ArgoCD) to support continuous delivery.<br><br></li> <li>Integrate with cloud-native tooling such as Istio, Helm, and Terraform.<br><br></li> <li>Apply strong software engineering practices: testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and documentation.<br><br></li> <li>Drive innovation by contributing to open-source projects where applicable.<br><br></li> <li>Collaborate cross-functionally with Cloud Architects, DevOps engineers, and product teams to align solutions with business needs.<br><br></li> <li>Ensure performance, reliability, and scalability of services that run at Postman’s scale.</li> </ul> <h2>About You</h2> <ul> <li>5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.</li> <li> <p>Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate (JPA).</p> </li> <li> <p>Proven experience designing and maintaining APIs and distributed backend services.</p> </li> <li> <p>Familiarity with Kubernetes, Argo, Istio, and Terraform.</p> </li> <li> <p>Strong understanding of software design principles (scalability, extensibility, resilience).</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience with build and testing tools (Gradle, Maven, JUnit).</p> </li> <li> <p>Proficiency with Git and Gitflow workflows.</p> </li> <li> <p>Excellent collaboration and communication skills.</p> </li> <li>Strong security mindset and awareness of compliance frameworks.</li> </ul> <p>The reasonably estimated base salary for this role ranges from $210,000 to $240,000, plus a competitive equity package.
