We are building the technical infrastructure for responsible growth. Our core purpose is to be the enabler of velocity for all of Ads Engineering; we aim to centralize regulatory compliance, abstract the complexity of privacy constraints, and maximize the utility of privatized data. As a Staff Engineer, you will be defining the technical vision for widespread, cross-organizational initiatives. This means working with partner teams like Security, Legal, and Infrastructure to deliver large-scale systems that allow the entire Ads organization to move faster, reduce regulatory risk, and keep user trust at the center of every decision.</p> <p>This role requires not just deep expertise in Ads and Privacy engineering, but a genuine talent for listening to, understanding, and aligning people who have different priorities and viewpoints. If you're someone who is exceptional at bringing clarity and consensus to complex, multi-team challenges, join us and help architect a system that scales our business and centralizes user privacy in Ads.</p> <p><strong>Role Scope Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Understand and audit the current state of privacy in Ads, and architect solutions for critical initiatives.</li> <li>Collaborate to form the long term technical vision and strategy for Ads Privacy for the next 2+ years. </li> <li>Lead large cross-functional projects end to end, from concept, design, implementation, to rollout, ensuring the highest quality and performance.</li> <li>Build a privacy platform that all teams in Ads can integrate with to access necessary data in a scalable and auditable fashion.</li> <li>Collaborate with engineering leaders, data scientists, backend software engineers, fullstack engineers, as well as machine learning engineers. Also work closely with security, legal, and privacy XFN.</li> <li>Mentor engineers and leaders, share industry knowledge, and contribute to the technical growth of the team. </li> <li>Stay updated on state-of-the-art products and technologies, recognizing promising innovations, identifying gaps, and adapting them to Reddit's unique platform and community.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar STEM field or equivalent experience.</li> <li>7+ years of software engineering experience.</li> <li>Deep familiarity with Ads privacy challenges (GDPR, CCPA, ePD, ATT, etc.) and experience delivering high Ads performance in line with privacy needs.</li> <li>Capable of acting as an individual contributor who can design, implement, test, and launch complex product and infrastructure changes across the entire Ads stack.</li> <li>Experience coordinating large-scale, cross-functional efforts that span different teams, and dr ...
