Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.</p></div><p><strong>SUPERVISOR, SOURCE INSPECTION</strong></p> <p>This is a highly quality-centric position and requires deep technical understanding of Manufacturing processes and practical experience with QA/QC practices. The focus of the Supervisor includes managing a remote team of quality inspectors, their inspection scheduling, supplier approval for inspections, and support development to address quality gaps. An ideal candidate would be a go getter personality with expertise in Quality processes and a strong desire to take on new challenges in unfamiliar areas to help enable our mission to Mars.</p> <p> <strong>RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Owns program to evaluate conformity of purchased parts to purchase order requirements by verifying supplier-provided documentation, checking parts for damage, correct part numbers, revisions, quantities, trace information, etc.</li> <li>Assists in developing and maintaining procedures and work instructions, communicating changes to the source inspection team and suppliers, and ensuring adherence to the updated procedures/work instructions</li> <li>Develops and implements changes in working conditions and procedures to increase safety, reliability, and efficiency</li> <li>Spends ~25% of time with suppliers to understand the work environment, and drive process improvements within their inspections and source inspection.</li> <li>Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems; supports conflict resolution with suppliers</li> <li>Interfaces with Procurement, SCE team, Production and other cross-functional teams to understand key priorities, quality challenges and actively directs inspection support accordingly</li> <li>Interfaces with suppliers and internal SpaceX stakeholders to resolve problems related to product and documentation conformance, corrective action compliance and procedures/work instructions</li> <li>Leads cross functional discussions on inspection operations, as well as supports inspection program process development</li> <li>Supports, maintains, and effectively communicates the program metrics and objectives to the team and stakeholders</li> <li>Performs supervisor duties with timecards, training, audits, procedure creation and performance reviews</li> <li>Balances business priorities to schedule remotely based source inspection resources effectively</li> <li>Works with leadership, source inspectors, and human resources to resolve issues</li> </ul> <p><strong> BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree OR 4+ years of experience in engineering, supply chain, manufacturing or quality assurance</li> <li>1+ years of experience leading people, teams, or technical projects</li> </ul> <p><strong> PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline</li> <li>Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and evaluate inspection trends, team performance, and supplier metrics</li> <li>Experience in a direct management role</li> <li>Ability to understand basic purchase orders (PO) quality requirements, their intent, and how supplied documentation meets these requirements</li> <li>Leadership skills and experience in project management</li> <li>Technical problem-solving skills and strong communication skills</li> <li>Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and demonstrate a high sense of urgency</li> <li>Computer literacy including ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook</li> <li>Knowledge of GDT and dimensional inspection tools and methods</li> <li>ISO 9001/AS9100/9102 (first article inspection) experience</li> <li>Lean/6-Sigma or other formal continuou ...
