Being part of an ESOP means our employee-owners share in Challenge’s success!</p> <p>Challenge is <em>#QualityDriven and #PeoplePowered!</em></p></div><p><strong>Who We Want:</strong></p> <p>The EHS Compliance Officer is responsible for supporting facility operations through the implementation and oversight of comprehensive Environmental, Health Safety programs. This role ensures full compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, while also aligning with internal company EHS standards and policies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in automotive or heavy manufacturing environments and demonstrate deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and ISO standards. This position requires an independent, proactive, and collaborative individual who can effectively engage across multiple teams and locations.</p> <p><strong>What You'll Do:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Monitor and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and applicable state/local regulations.</li> <li>Develop, implement, and maintain company EHS policies and procedures.</li> <li>Conduct audits and assessments across multiple facilities to identify compliance gaps and drive continuous improvement.</li> <li>Provide training and mentorship for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 internal auditors.</li> <li>Serve as a Competent Person for Fall Protection, lead hazard identification and mitigation efforts.</li> <li>Collaborate with site leadership to foster a safety-first culture throughout the organization.</li> <li>Audit environmental permits and ensure timely submission of compliance reports, including Tier II, Form A, and Form R.</li> <li>Investigate incidents and near-misses, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective action plans.</li> <li> <ul> <li>Support plant Safety Committees and EHS improvement initiatives.</li> <li>Participate in cross-plant EHS team efforts to standardize and enhance program effectiveness.</li> </ul> <p>Audit Focus Areas (Not Limited To)</p> <ul> <li>ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards</li> <li>Fire Prevention Emergency Action Plans</li> <li>Machine Guarding, Lockout/Tagout, and Fall Protection</li> <li>OSHA logs and recordkeeping (300, 301)</li> <li>Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Industrial Hygiene</li> <li>Electrical safety and live electrical work (NFPA 70E)</li> <li>Confined space entry and permit procedures</li> <li>Welding, cutting, and brazing safety practices</li> <li>Material handling, ventilation, and powered industrial trucks</li> <li>Safety sign standards, exit routes, emergency systems, and more</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <p><strong>When and Where:<br></strong>This position is located at our Plant in Spartanburg, SC and will require travel.<br><strong><br></strong>Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines, or urgent requests.</p> <p><strong>What You Need to Have:</stron ...
