As a designer, you’ll join a culture of creativity and craft, where we have a high bar for excellence and an endless curiosity about how to bring more unexpected quirk and fun to the pursuit of learning. </p> <p class="Z7ph2">Join us in our mission to develop education for our half a billion (and growing!) learners around the world.</p> <hr> <h2><strong>About the role</strong></h2> <p>As a writer, you’ll join a culture of creativity and craft, where we have a high bar for excellence and an endless curiosity about how to bring more unexpected quirk and fun to the pursuit of learning.</p> <h4><strong>:brain: You will...</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Give voice to Duolingo’s features and functionality, writing in the Duolingo voice and from the perspective of characters like Lily and Oscar</li> <li>Drive the messaging, content strategy, and naming for product experiences, landing on pithy turns of phrase that land with our learners</li> <li>Partner with product designers and product managers on new features and interactions based on data and insights</li> <li>Design new pathways to content, make existing features better, and craft fun, new ways for our learners to unlock knowledge</li> <li>Focus on a few projects at a time and drive their content strategy</li> <li>Run experiments and share insights so your wins can have a greater impact</li> <li>Work with our localization team to ensure A+ translation</li> <li>Report to the Director of Product Writing. We sit within the Design department, the instrumental creative partner in most projects at Duolingo</li> </ul> <h4><strong>:check: You have...</strong></h4> <ul> <li>A brain that’s always buzzing with ideas</li> <li>A portfolio with compelling UX writing examples for a consumer app</li> <li>Experience in both UX writing and consumer copywriting</li> <li>A gift for expressing complicated things in plain language</li> <li>An ability to adapt your writing for different voices</li> <li>Experience taking a leadership stance, whether in title or behavior</li> <li>The ability to work from or relocate to Pittsburgh, PA or New York City</li> </ul> <h4><strong>:star: Exceptional candidates will have...</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Experience writing and designing for payment flows</li> <li>Experience developing new and novel content models</li> <li>Experience collaborating with translators</li> <li>A Duolingo streak!</li> </ul> <p><strong><em>Please include a link to your portfolio showcasing relevant work samples.
