Our mission is to deliver a simple, transparent, and flexible SaaS billing experience that scales globally across AWS, GCP, and Azure. We build and operate the systems that power Elastic’s usage-based and consumption billing models, marketplace integrations, and the financial data pipelines that support accurate customer invoicing and certified revenue reporting.</p> <p>Within Platform Billing, the <strong>Billing Experience (BEX)</strong> team owns the customer-facing and API layers of our billing platform. We design and build the public and internal APIs, user experiences in Elastic Cloud consoles, and the surrounding ecosystem that enables customers and internal partners to understand, trust, and manage their billing data.</p> <p>Our work spans UX, APIs, financial data surfaces, cross-team integrations, and high-scale backend systems.</p> <p>Joining BEX means influencing the experience used by thousands of customers every day, shaping how Elastic customers see and understand their Cloud spend, and driving some of the most visible surfaces in the platform.</p> <p>We are seeking an <strong>Engineering Manager</strong> to lead the Billing Experience team. You will manage a highly skilled group of backend, frontend, and full-stack engineers who build and operate the customer billing interfaces, APIs, and workflows that sit on top of Elastic’s global billing platform.</p> <p>As a manager in Platform Billing, you will drive engineering excellence, operational maturity, and product quality. This role blends people leadership, system thinking, and strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, Finance, SRE, and peer engineering teams.</p> <p>You will play a key role in scaling our next-generation consumption billing model and shaping the future of billing UX in Elastic Cloud.</p> <h2>What You Will Be Doing</h2> <ul> <li><strong>Lead, mentor, and grow</strong> a globally distributed team of engineers (backend, frontend, full-stack).</li> <li>Drive <strong>technical direction and execution</strong> for customer-facing billing experiences and billing APIs.</li> <li>Partner closely with Product, Design, Technical Leads, SRE, and peer Billing teams to deliver a modern, intuitive billing experience.</li> <li>Establish strong <strong>operational discipline</strong>: on-call excellence, incident follow-through, reliability metrics, and continuous improvement.</li> <li>Build clear <strong>roadmaps</strong>, define priorities, and ensure predictable delivery.</li> <li>Improve engineering quality, development workflows, testing infrastructure, and documentation.</li> <li>Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, high ownership, and collaborative problem-solving.</li> <li>Ensure effective communication and alignment across engineering, product, finance, and cloud operations.</li> <li>Balance strategic initiatives with KTLO (keep-the-lights-on) work and platform stability.</li> </ul> <h2>What You Bring</h2> <ul> <li>Experience leading and growing diverse engineering teams as a people manager.</li> <li>A strong engineering foundation (backend or full-stack), enabling you to discuss architecture, design, and tradeoffs with confidence.</li> <li>Demonstrated abilit ...
