This is not a hand-off role. You won’t wait for specs to turn into content. You’ll explore the product yourself, build dashboards, test APIs, and figure out how things actually work.

This role is a great fit for someone with a technical background. Maybe you were a support engineer, solutions engineer, or a writer embedded with engineering. You’re comfortable problem solving, testing out new features, reading code, and working directly with developers.

You’ll also be working in an AI-enabled documentation environment. At Elastic, writers use AI to explore unfamiliar code and APIs, prototype examples, validate workflows, and accelerate drafts. But the writer leads the outcome. Accuracy, clarity, and user success are still your responsibility.

If this sounds interesting, explore our docs! Try the product. Show us how you think. Share writing samples, a portfolio, or GitHub contributions.

What You Will Be Doing:

Own documentation for Kibana visualizations and related workflows.

Explore features hands-on by building visualizations, testing APIs, and validating real-world use cases.

Work directly with Engineering, Product, and Support to ensure documentation reflects actual product behavior and intent.

Shape clear, goal-oriented guidance, not just feature descriptions.

Partner with other writers to ensure consistency across sophisticated, multi-layered content.

Improve UI copy in partnership with Design, Engineering, and Product.

Contribute via our Git-based docs workflow using Markdown, pull requests, and reviews.

Use AI tools to accelerate research and drafting, while validating technical accuracy before publishing.

Raise the quality bar through thoughtful peer reviews and structural feedback.

What You Will Bring:

Technical experience: 2+ years in a SaaS or developer-focused environment. You’re comfortable navigating technical systems and talking to engineers.

Hands-on approach: You test things yourself. You don’t document what you haven’t tried.

Problem-solving: You can untangle something complex and explain it simply.

Docs-as-Code: We build our docs like software. You’re comfortable using Git and GitHub for PRs, branching, and reviews.

Curiosity: You like exploring and learning new things.

AI fluency: You’re comfortable using generative AI tools to accelerate technical understanding and content development (for example: exploring APIs, generating examples, testing queries, or refining explanations). You also know its limits and validate everything.

Proactive communication: You proactively sync with engineers and align with writers on structure, voice, and information architecture.

Bonus Points:

Experience with Elasticsearch, Kibana, or other vector database or visualization tools.

Expe ...
