If Braze sounds like a place where you can thrive, we can’t wait to meet you.</p></div><p>Braze is seeking an APAC Employment Counsel to join its dynamic and high-performing legal team. This position will sit in Singapore. </p>
<p>In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a counselor and advisor to the People team, the Legal team, and senior management and work on a broad range of employment matters in a rapidly growing company, with a particular focus on employment matters arising in Asia Pacific. </p>
<p><strong>WHAT YOU’LL DO</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Provide counsel to the People team and business leaders on employment matters in non-U.S. jurisdictions with a particular focus on Asia Pacific employment matters, including in Singapore, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, and South Korea. </li>
<li>Advise on a wide range of issues, including recruiting, hiring, compensation, performance and absenteeism management, leaves, disciplinary action, reductions in force, restructurings, terminations, discrimination, harassment, pay equity, mergers and acquisitions, employee covenants, accommodations, worker classifications, and setting up in new countries</li>
<li>Evaluate and communicate legal risks associated with complaints, grievances, and other legal matters</li>
<li>Handle pre-litigation employment claims and settlement negotiations and oversee and partner with outside counsel on employment litigation</li>
<li>Draft and review employment-related policies and agreements (e.g., employment contracts, confidentiality agreements, separation agreements, settlement agreements, and employee policies and handbooks)</li>
<li>Develop employment-related training programs, and train the People team and business leaders on employment-related matters</li>
<li>Oversee and occasionally conduct internal employment investigations involving alleged violations of law</li>
<li>Monitor and draft submissions to regulatory agencies that involve employment-related reporting obligations</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>WHO YOU ARE</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Law degree</li>
<li>At least 5 years of combined experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department, preferably as an employment lawyer in a multinational company</li>
<li>Familiar with and have working knowledge of the employment laws in various Asia-Pacific jurisdictions, including Singapore employment laws. Having working knowledge of employment laws in Australia, South Korea, Japan, or Indonesia is a plus</li>
<li>Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build close partnerships with business and legal stakeholders</li>
<li>Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage deadlines</li>
<li>Ability to translate legal requirements into understandable risk-based recommendations for the business and legal functions</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English. Fluency in Japanese, Korean, or Bahasa Indonesia is a plus</li>
