Staff Implementation Data Scientist

In this role, you will manage successful customer software deployments, develop new product specifications based on customer feedback, and act as the "voice of the customer." You’ll work closely with our Data Scientists, Product Managers, Software Engineers, and leadership team to ensure successful product deployments to our customers. </p> <p><strong>Your Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage successful customer software deployments and technical work streams from end-to-end, with the ability to effectively manage priorities, deliver on-time, and communicate effectively internally and with customers, focusing on key Altana market segments</li> <li>Become a power-user of the platform, data, and API products, support customers in rapidly achieving value from the solution, and identify new use cases to address customer pain points</li> <li>Communicate directly with customer analysts and senior decision makers to ensure they have a great experience with Altana’s technology. Be the trusted technical voice in the room on customer engagements.</li> <li>Oversee platform deployments, inclusive of integrating customer data via REST API and adjusting system architectures for customer environments</li> <li>Build prototypes and customizations that help get customers to value and expand product functionality </li> </ul> <p><strong>About You</strong></p> <ul> <li>8+ years of technical experience in analytics, data science, software engineering or a similar technology related field using Python, SQL, Databricks, REST APIs, OpenSearch, AWS or Azure</li> <li>Experienced working with customer or sensitive data </li> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Comfortable talking to customers about complex integrations </li> <li>Depending on your location, ability to travel up to 10% of the time to customer locations and/or company gatherings</li> </ul> <p><strong>Nice to have, but not required</strong></p> <ul> <li>Exposure to trade compliance, supply chain management, shipping and logistics, or a field similarly related to international commerce</li> <li>Experience with Machine Learning toolsets (Scikit-learn, Numpy, Pandas, Dedupe)</li> <li>Working knowledge of cloud services like AWS, Azure, or GCP</li> <li>Experience working with AWS GovCloud or other government managed systems</li> </ul> <p><strong>Technologies we love to use at Altana</strong></p> <ul> <li>Languages: Python, Spark, SQL</li> <li>Tools: Docker, Git, Kubernetes, Swagger/OpenAPI, AWS, Azure, Claude Code</li> <li>Datastores: Databricks, OpenSearch, Postgres, Redshift</li> </ul> <p><em>This role can be based in either Brooklyn, NY or Washington, DC with hybrid work flexibility</em></p> <p>US Salary Range and Benefits</p> <p>$175,000-$205,000 USD</p> <p>The salary range, to the extent specified for this role, is a good faith statement of the minimum and maximum levels of the annual based salary for the position. The base salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on a wide range of compensation factors, including, but not limited to, work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Altana's total compensation package. Altana also offers either a discretionary bonus or a variable compensation plan depending on the role.
