About the Role As a Staff Infrastructure Engineer at Fieldguide, your impact spans multiple teams and product areas. You set the technical direction for how Fieldguide builds and operates infrastructure in an AI-native world. You will lead our most critical infrastructure initiatives, partner with executives on technical and AI strategy, and design platforms and systems that unlock new product and delivery capabilities at scale. What You’ll Do - Lead the most critical, high-leverage infrastructure initiatives across the engineering organization. - Design and own the technical quality bar and architectural standards for Fieldguide’s infrastructure. - Build platforms and AI-enabled systems that unlock new product and delivery capabilities for multiple teams. - Identify and execute on work that materially accelerates delivery across engineering. - Partner with executives to shape and communicate technical and AI strategy. - Ensure infrastructure security and compliance by setting organization-wide standards for identity management, network segmentation, secrets handling, and vulnerability management. - Bootstrap large reliability, automation, and platform initiatives that fundamentally improve how teams operate. - Mentor senior engineers and tech leads to become force multipliers themselves. - Remain hands-on where it creates the greatest leverage — including incident response, architecture reviews, and high-stakes technical decisions. - Represent Fieldguide’s technical excellence and help attract top-tier infrastructure talent. Who You Are - You have 10+ years of hands-on experience constructing complex cloud solutions using multiple AWS services. - You are skilled in provisioning and configuring cloud services using Terraform and the AWS CLI / API. - You have proficiency in designing effective monitoring/alerting and log aggregation solutions using tools like Datadog and AWS CloudWatch (New Relic, Prometheus/Grafana, etc.) - You have a solid understanding of data systems, including both SQL and NoSQL. - You have experience in developing and maintaining software in security and regulatory compliance environments (SOC 2, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, etc.) - You are comfortable participating in on-call support to ensure 24/7 availability of services. - You have a passion for mentoring and coaching other engineers. - You have excellent communication and organizational skills and are capable of managing multiple competing priorities. - You have demonstrated org-leve ...
