Senior Android Engineer

<p>Navan is looking for a Senior Android Engineer who is passionate about pushing mobile technologies to their limits. In this role, you will collaborate with a team of talented engineers to design, build, and enhance the next generation of our mobile applications in the travel management space. You will own critical features—from high-performance booking flows to real-time expense management—ensuring a seamless, world-class experience for millions of global users.</p> <p><strong>What You’ll Do:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Design, Build, and Evolve:</strong> Architect and develop end-to-end features using <strong>Kotlin</strong> and <strong>Jetpack Compose</strong>. You will build responsive interfaces while evolving the robust architecture that powers them.</li> <li><strong>Build Enterprise-Grade Workflows:</strong> Create intuitive UIs and powerful logic for complex domains such as dynamic travel policies, approval chains, and real-time synchronization.</li> <li><strong>Optimize Performance:</strong> Analyze and optimize UI performance, memory efficiency, and background processing to ensure a high-quality user experience.</li> <li><strong>Own Features End-to-End:</strong> Take technical ownership of a problem domain, facilitating the design, development, and launch of key features and microservices.</li> <li><strong>Champion Best Practices:</strong> Contribute to a culture of technical excellence by writing high-quality, well-tested code and advocating for modern testing and monitoring standards.</li> <li><strong>Collaborate Across Teams:</strong> Work cross-functionally with Product and Design to deliver complex, cross-domain features in a collaborative environment.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What We’re Looking For:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>4-6 years</strong> of experience developing high-quality Android applications in a fast-paced environment.</li> <li><strong>Deep Proficiency in Kotlin</strong> as the primary development language, including experience with <strong>Coroutines and Flow</strong>.</li> <li><strong>Modern Android Stack:</strong> Hands-on experience with <strong>Jetpack Compose</strong>, <strong>Hilt/Dagger</strong>, <strong>Retrofit, Espresso</strong>.</li> <li><strong>Architectural Knowledge:</strong> Strong understanding of <strong>MVVM/MVI</strong> patterns and <strong>Clean Architecture</strong> principles. Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and design.</li> <li><strong>Platform Fundamentals:</strong> Deep knowledge of the Android SDK, threading, offline storage, caching optimization, localisation and accessibility.</li> <li><strong>Engineering Rigor:</strong> Proven ability to ship production-quality code equipped with robust testing (Unit, Integration) and documentation. </li> <li><strong>Efficiency:</strong> Ability to leverage AI development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate development while maintaining high code quality.</li> </ul>
