The systems we build directly influence deflection, resolution speed, customer effort, and overall satisfaction at scale.</p> <p>As a Senior Software Engineer on Help Center, <strong>you’ll operate as a full-stack engineer building customer-facing experiences and the backend services that power them. </strong>You’ll design and evolve APIs, workflows, and UI experiences that shape how millions of support interactions begin—ensuring they are context-aware, performant, resilient, and deeply integrated with Toast’s broader support ecosystem.</p> <p>If you’re motivated by building highly visible product surfaces, excited to connect frontend experience with scalable backend architecture, and eager to shape the future of intelligent self-service at Toast, this role offers meaningful scope and impact.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>A day in the life (Responsibilities)</strong></p> <ul> <li>Design, build, deploy, and maintain the Help Center experience through full stack development </li> <li>Collaborate with UX, PM, QA and Engineering to define, design, and build best-in-class solutions in a complex and fast-moving environment</li> <li>Champion best practices for development, deployment and quality life-cycles</li> <li>Mentor and support other engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance, contributing to a culture of quality and continuous improvement.</li> <li>Participate in technical design and architecture discussions, helping shape team-level technical direction and tradeoffs.</li> <li>Collaborate with team to plan and estimate work</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)<br></strong></p> <ul> <li>5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background building and maintaining production systems using Java, Kotlin, or other object-oriented languages.</li> <li>Strong hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React </li> <li>Proficient with modern API standards and technologies (e.g. REST, GraphQL)</li> <li>Proficient with AI tooling such as Cursor, Claude, and MCP servers</li> <li>Proven ability to own complex features or projects end-to-end, from design through production and iteration.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to deliver high-impact, scalable solutions in complex, multi-product environments</li> <li>Strong leadership and mentoring skills</li> <li>Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical partners.</li> <li>Focused on delivering positive impact for Toast customers</li> <li>Passionate about driving innovation and continuous improvement of our digital support experience <br><br>#LI-HYBRID<br>#BI-Hybrid</li> </ul> <p data-pm-slice="1 1 []"><strong>AI at Toast</strong></p> <p>At Toast, one of our company values is that we're hungry to build and learn.
