What You’ll Do (Roles & Responsibilities) As AI growth is accelerating, Cisco is developing ground-breaking technologies and customer solutions to lead the industry. These technologies are constantly evolving across different commodities. Your role as technical leader in power supply technology is expected to excel at switching power supply design. It is imperative that you possess a robust understanding and practical experience in the intricacies of power supply design and knowledge of how to quantify the design robustness and reliability. This specialized knowledge is crucial for the development and optimization of the highly efficient and reliable power delivery from facility power grid to networking equipment. Your responsibilities encompass the strategic leadership of end-to-end quality and reliability management for power supply units, driving advanced design and manufacturing technology innovation, and architecting supply chain resiliency. You will be expected to demonstrate advanced proficiency and leadership in the following areas: Design Expertise & Influence Lead the evaluation and integration of new technologies into product roadmaps. Influence design and component selection strategies to optimize performance and cost. Understand how component characteristics impact system performance. Oversee the crafting of design margin measures to quantify robustness, directing the analysis of circuitry tolerance, worst-case component stress, and firmware control logic to ensure reliability under all operating conditions. Commodity Strategy Partner with Global Supply Management (GSM) to maintain a resilient supply chain. Environmental and Reliability Qualification Set strategic reliability targets and methodologies. Define accelerated stress test methodologies (TC, THB, PTC, vibration) to evaluate long-term reliability. Define complex reliability issues and develop long- and short-term solutions, quantifying risk to drive continuous improvement. Manufacturing Readiness Examine assembly and test processes. Assess quality control plans to ensure coverage of undefined or emerging risks in production. Standards Compliance Ensure designs adhere to industry standards (IPC, IEC, NEBS, Telcordia, IEEE, etc.) and regulatory requirements. Collaboration, Communication & Negotiation Drive cross-functional projects with multi-functional teams. Lead internal and external communications with stakeholders. Present complex ideas to senior leadership to influence decision-making. Problem-Solving & Strategic Resolution Lead resolution of complex design issues across the product lifecycle, developing and implementing solutions that permanently eliminate problems. Program / Vendor & Risk Management Partner with stakeholders to drive supply chain resiliency. Conduct risk management and planning. Manage key vendor relationships as the primary technical interface. Your role will be pivotal in bringing to market high-quality, reliable, high-efficiency power supplies. Who You’ll Work With You’ll be part of the Component Quality & Technology (CQT) Organization within the SCO organization. CQT evaluates and develops new technologies to enable sustained product differentiation. You will work with diverse teams across semiconductor and systems design, Cisco Business Units, suppliers, and extended Supply Chain functions including Global Supply Management, Product Operations, and Global Manufacturing Organization. Who You Are (Desired & Soft Skills) We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in switching power supply design. You are passionate about problem-solving, continuous improvement, and product quality, and able to communicate complex technical issues across all levels of leadership. Minimum Requirements Education & Experience BSME/BSEE or equivalent with 12+ years of power supply design experience for networking or computing equipment.
