Job Description

Head of Events - EMEA About the team: The Marketing Events team is a dynamic and ethos-driven group dedicated to crafting one-of-a-kind and extraordinary experiences that encompass OpenAI’s values and mission. Our team is driven by a deep passion for shining the spotlight on others and bringing people together to connect in meaningful ways. About the Role: We are seeking a Head of Events, EMEA (reporting to the Global Head of Events) to lead the strategy and execution of OpenAI’s event ecosystem across the European region, shaping how we bring people together around one of the most transformative technologies of our time. This role defines how events serve as a core engine for marketing, community, and trust, connecting developers, customers, executives, policymakers, creatives, and emerging builders to OpenAI’s mission at scale. You will operate at both a strategic and operational level, building and scaling a regional events organisation capable of delivering world-class programs across diverse markets and cultures. Partnering closely with senior executives and cross-functional leaders, you’ll translate business priorities and product innovation into impactful live experiences from flagship conferences and executive convenings to developer programs and community moments that inspire connection and engagement. This position is based in London and requires regular travel throughout the region and globally. In this role, you will: - Lead and scale OpenAI’s EMEA events organisation, managing a regional team of Producers, Event Managers, and contingent workforce partners to deliver programs across Europe. - Translate strategic business priorities into highly-visible and executable event programs, operationalising experiences of varying scale, from highly energetic flagship moments to targeted community and white-glove executive engagements. - In line with US-operations, establish clear operating models, resourcing frameworks, and production standards that enable consistent, high-quality execution across diverse markets. - Direct end-to-end program delivery through regional teams and partners, ensuring alignment, accountability, and operational excellence across all events. - Build scalable systems, playbooks, and vendor ecosystems that allow OpenAI’s event footprint to grow efficiently without compromising craft or experience quality. - Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, GTM, Product, Policy, and Comms leaders to ensure regional programs advance business goals while strengthening trust and community across EMEA. You might thrive in this role if you: - Bring 10–15+ years of experience leading large-scale, high-impact event programs, typically at a Director level within global or fast-growing organisations. - Are excited by the opportunity to build, scale, and evolve an events organisation across diverse markets and stages of growth. - Are deeply curious about artificial intelligence and motivated by technology’s potential to meaningfully improve how people live and work. - Are an exceptional people leader who invests in developing teams, creating clarity, and fostering a high-trust, low-ego culture. - Operate comfortably at both strategic and executional levels, bringing world-class expertise across logistics, ...
