Mechanical Engineer (Motors and Actuators) - Hands

Since its founding in 2015, 1X has been at the forefront of developing advanced humanoid robots designed for household use. Our mission is to create an abundant supply of labor via safe, intelligent humanoids. As we scale from research and development to full-scale manufacturing, we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in electric actuator design to support the development of NEO’s hands. In this role, you will own key mechanical subsystems of high-performance electric drive units, and be responsible for the design, optimization, selection, and integration of components such as rotors and stators, bearings, transmissions, and sensors. Responsibilities Design, prototype, and validate robotics (electro)mechanical designs for electric actuators Integrate electronics, sensors and cabling into robotic joints with large range of motion and tight packaging constraints Optimize parts and assemblies for weight, cost, and performance Create high-quality drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) for manufacturing and production Perform tolerance stack-up analysis Author concise documentation of design details, requirements, and test plans
