Counsel, Product (Membership/Subscription) Department: Legal Team: CLO Location: San Francisco, United States Type: Full-Time ### **About the Role** Uber is looking for a strategic and business-minded Product Counsel to join our Product Legal Team supporting Membership, one of our fastest-growing programs. This role offers a unique opportunity to partner with cross-functional teams and provide legal guidance on subscription models, loyalty programs, and consumer benefits that sit at the heart of the Uber platform. You’ll help shape the legal and regulatory strategy for Membership, navigate complex compliance challenges, and enable innovative growth initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, demanding environment, brings sound judgment, and adapts quickly to evolving business needs. This role is based in **San Francisco, CA**. ### **What You’ll Do** - Advise product, marketing, and operations teams on Membership initiatives. - Navigate subscription frameworks, including auto-renewal and consumer protection laws. - Review new products for compliance, marketing, and consumer risk. - Partner across functions to ensure compliance with U.S. and international laws. - Collaborate with regional legal teams to support global launches. - Draft and review terms, disclaimers, and consumer policies. - Develop scalable legal strategies that enable growth while managing risk. - Support regulatory engagement and monitor evolving laws affecting Membership. - Deliver clear, practical legal advice in a fast-moving environment. ### **Basic Qualifications** - Minimum of five (5) years of legal experience in private practice, in-house, or government OR 4 years, including +1 year Uber internal. - J.D. and license to practice law in at least one U.S. state. **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience working with or for U.S. regulators (FTC, state AGs) on compliance issues. - Expertise in subscription services law (e.g., auto-renewal,consumer protection). - Experience with loyalty programs, recurring billing, or subscription products. - Strong ability to navigate complex regulations with busin
