Job Title: Payroll Tax Associate
Location: On-site in Cali or Bogotá, Colombia
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Position Summary: Support federal, state, and local tax compliance activities within the PEO (Professional Employer Organization) industry. Responsibilities include payroll tax processing, compliance, research, reconciliations, audit support, and client service ensuring accuracy and adherence to tax laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Research tax-related legal issues and filing positions in compliance with local, federal, and international tax laws
• Coordinate with internal departments on new projects or business initiatives for proper tax liability coverage
• Assist with audits of corporate payroll tax payments
• Process payroll tax payments and prepare payroll tax returns with required reconciliations
• Verify payroll and tax data accuracy ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and policies
• Resolve payroll tax notices and discrepancies by analyzing and processing corrections timely and effectively
• Provide exceptional customer service addressing payroll tax issues, inquiries, and requests
• Maintain current payroll tax knowledge through education, professional publications, internal resources, and research
• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax returns as assigned
• Process tax filings and payments using e-file systems, batch agent files, magnetic media, and EFT debit/credit
• Resolve tax notices and keep timely updates in the case management system
• Prioritize and manage assigned tasks effectively within the case management system
• Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• English level required: B2 - B2+
• Results-oriented with ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines
• Strong customer service skills with client-focused approach
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and critical thinking
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Experience:
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Payroll, Tax, or related field
• PEO or related industry experience preferred
