As our Founding Staff AI / ML Engineer, you will define and build the core AI systems behind the platform—from LLM-powered document understanding to predictive models that help brands make better decisions. This is a foundational role working directly with the CEO and CTO to shape our long-term AI strategy and architecture. Location: New York, NY (Relocation supported) Compensation: $300k–$350k + Up to 40% Bonus + Benefits + Meaningful Equity (.4%–.7%) WHAT YOU'LL DO - Own the full AI/ML lifecycle: research → prototyping → production deployment → monitoring - Design and build systems that extract structured data from complex financial documents - Develop agentic systems that retrieve and reason over data across fragmented enterprise systems - Build predictive models to forecast brand sales and financial performance - Detect anomalies in retail and sales data - Develop recommendation systems to help brands optimize retailer promotions - Partner with product and engineering to integrate AI capabilities into the core platform EXAMPLE PROBLEMS - AI-powered document ingestion for invoices, deductions, and retailer reports - Agent workflows that retrieve data from legacy systems - Sales forecasting models for large CPG brands - Anomaly detection across retailer performance data - Promotion optimization models WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Required - 5+ years of applied AI / ML experience - Strong background in ML systems design and production deployment - Experience working with LLMs and NLP systems - Strong product mindset—ability to translate AI capabilities into real-world applications Nice to Have - Experience fine-tuning LLMs (Llama, GPT, etc.) - Experience building agentic workflows or retrieval systems - Startup experience and comfort operating in ambiguous environments Confido provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
