Overview The Database Engineering team is looking for a Lead Database Engineer to drive our customer experience strategy forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset. Provide Redis Database support for MasterCard Application databases in On-Prem and Cloud databases such as AWS elasticache. As a Database Engineer, will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Mastercard’s database systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, optimize database performance, and ensure data integrity and security along with maintaining best practices. Responsibilities/Required Skills: Description: • Extensive experience in configuring, patching, upgrading, and optimizing database software and related components. • Technical Expertise: o Strong hands-on experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases. o Proficient in PL/SQL, SQL tuning, and query optimization. • Infrastructure Knowledge: o Skilled in Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting. o Ability to develop automation scripts using Shell, PL/SQL, and other tools. o Familiar with cloud platforms and managed database services. • Tools & Technologies: o Expertise in backup tools (RMAN, pg_dump) and replication strategies. o Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk. • Monitor and optimize database performance, implementing tuning strategies for queries, indexes, and overall system efficiency. • Strong background in security, backup/recovery, architecture, networking, and database administration. • Contribute to the development, maintenance, testing, implementation, and support of database technologies and associated products. • Proactively monitor and resolve database issues, ensuring timely root cause analysis and remediation. • Solid understanding of DDL creation and implementation to support development efforts. • Knowledge of database security concepts, including users, roles, and privileges. • Familiarity with cloud-based database administration and related concepts. • Collaborate with technology teams and stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions. • Strong performance tuning skills with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve database performance issues. • Adhere to change management, problem management, and incident management processes. • Ability to manage moderate to large projects or initiatives within the database domain. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to advocate for database best practices, governance, standards, and procedures. • St ...
