Well… you might just be in the right place!</span></p> <p>We’re looking for a <strong>Software Development Manager</strong> to join our <em><strong>Mobile Engineering</strong></em> team in Auckland. In this role, you will own the engagement and performance of engineers by developing resilience and nurturing high-performance; leading by example and empowering others to do their best work. The ideal candidate for this role has a strong background in technical delivery and has the ability to provide technical advice/weigh in on technical decisions that impact other teams or the company at large.</p> <h3><strong>What you’ll be doing:</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Hire, onboard, train and coach a team of high-performing individuals and support their career development through regular feedback and coaching, quarterly reviews and structured development plans, 1:1s, peer programming, whiteboarding or training sessions</li> <li>Help your team deliver code in a high-trust environment using continuous delivery, ensuring the team has a great delivery cadence and a strong connection with stakeholders (using demos, retros, blameless incident reviews, and the like)</li> <li>Evaluate the performance of the technical architecture of our mobile application and adopt industry trends</li> <li>Collaborate closely and continuously with the team to manage the development initiatives, answer questions, and sign off on work results</li> <li>Report to the Director, Software Development and have frequent interaction with Product Managers, Product Designers, Product Marketing Managers, and Support Specialists</li> </ul> <h3><strong>And a little bit of.... </strong></h3> <ul> <li>Leading by example and some hands-on coding in Java, Golang or Kotlin </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Contributing as part of the wider team to achieve organisational objectives, even if this means doing things that aren’t strictly within the scope of your role</li> </ul> <h3><strong>What you need to bring:</strong></h3> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We're looking for a candidate who has experience with the following:</span></p> <ul> <li>Experience leading a team of mobile developers through successful software projects</li> <li>Experience providing technical leadership to deliver solutions to complex problems </li> <li>Understanding of Agile software development</li> <li>Experience in creating processes for bug fixing and improving application performance</li> <li>Significant experience in previous success and failure (“scars”), which helps to make better decisions</li> <li>Someone who is adaptable and knows how to build, change, and adapt to the needs of a company as it grows</li> <li>Effective at nurturing relationships and managing multiple stakeholders</li> <li>Experience within a similar industry is helpful but not crucial </li> <li>Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle is helpful but not crucial</li> <li>Experience in mobile application development is helpful, but not crucial</li> </ul> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We know that people are more than what’s on their CV.
