We make it easy for organizations to take control of spend and save money. We're looking for a pragmatic and thoughtful engineering leader to help scale our platform and team. ABOUT THE ROLE We're hiring a Team Lead to build out and lead our Vendor and Contracts team. This team will enhance Procurify's vendor and contracts solution by creating a new vendor portal and vendor collaboration features that are key to our mid-market product strategy. In this role, you will act as a "player-coach"—managing a team of software engineers while actively contributing to the codebase and serving as a technical leader within the team's business domain. You'll work closely with the Senior Engineering Leadership to grow technical leaders and further develop a highly engaged, high-performing team. This is an opportunity to build a new AI native team within Procurify, delivering key strategic initiatives at the cutting edge of software engineering practices by actively utilizing agentic coding tools like Claude Code. WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON - Lead, Mentor, and Contribute: Manage a team of 4-6 full stack, AI native software engineers. You will provide coaching for technical excellence, foster individual career growth, and nurture a culture of trust while remaining a hands-on contributor to the code. - Drive Velocity: Lead your team to deliver consistently against ambitious goals by pioneering our AI-first workflows. You'll define success metrics, track progress transparently, and communicate proactively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and celebrate wins. - Own a Complex Domain: Own the technical direction and long-term vision for the Vendors and Contracts team. Ensure designs are architecturally sound, scalable, and secure. - Building with AI from the ground up: Guide your team's efforts in building our vendor portal and collaboration features. You will lead by example using cutting-edge AI development tools and practices, delivering with high velocity and quality. - Forge a Leadership Triad: Partner closely with the team's Product Manager and Product Designer, forming a high-trust triad to deeply understand customer needs and drive the success of your product areas. - Develop Leaders: Mentor engineers, actively supporting the growth of the members of your team. WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Proven Hands-On Leadership: 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 1 year in a direct people management role. You must have a strong desire and proven ability to remain hands-on in the code. - AI Native Modern SaaS Experience: Experience building scalable, customer-facing SaaS products using modern technologies (we use Python/Django, TypeScript/React, AWS, and Kubernetes). You must have practical, hands-on experience accelerating development with AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot. - Architectural Acumen: Strong experience with software design principles and patterns. You have a proven track record of evolving large-scale applications and guiding teams through technical complexity. - Agile & DevOps Mindset: Strong knowledge of agile development practices, CI/CD, test automation, and building for observability. - Empathetic & Accountable: A self-driven, accountable leader who thrives in an autonomous, fast-paced environment and leads with empathy, compassion, and a people-first approach. - Exceptional Communicator: You excel at communicating complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences, fostering collaboration and alignment across teams. NICE TO HAVE - Domain Expertise: A strong interest or background in the FinTech ecosystem.
