The <strong>Financial Controller</strong>, working in close collaboration with the Accounting team, will oversee the company's financial accounting. This key role is essential for supporting Poka's ongoing expansion within a multi-entity structure.</p> <p><strong><em>Accounting-related responsibilities:</em></strong></p> <ul> <li>Plan and supervise all operational accounting functions, including full accounting cycles for Revenues, payroll, Expenses, and journal entries</li> <li>Actively supervise and participate in the month-end and year-end close </li> <li>Preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements</li> <li>Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded within the appropriate legal entities (CAD, US, and EUR) and complete the required intercompany journal entries accordingly</li> <li>Prepare and submit the required reporting documents to IFS</li> <li>Oversee payroll processing and controls</li> <li>Prepare year-end files and liaise with IFS</li> <li>Administer company bank accounts and cash-related processes</li> <li>Prepare regulatory reports and ensure compliance requirements are met</li> <li>Analyze and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards</li> <li>Evaluate current accounting operations, recommend improvements, and implement new processes</li> <li>Assess accounting systems and tools, propose enhancements, and support implementations</li> <li>Coach and develop members of the accounting team</li> </ul> <p><strong><em>Tax-related responsibilities:</em></strong></p> <ul> <li>Support corporate income tax filings (Canada and USA) in coordination with IFS and external advisors </li> <li>Oversee indirect tax compliance (e.g. sales taxes) and related filings</li> <li>Assist with transfer pricing support, intercompany documentation, and tax-related audits </li> <li>Monitor changes in tax regulations and assess potential impacts on the business</li> </ul> <p><strong><em>What you bring to the table:</em></strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, including experience in a SaaS or technology environment</li> <li>Strong knowledge of ASPE and IFRS, with hands-on experience preparing financial statements and supporting audits</li> <li>Experience with SaaS revenue recognition (including subscription-based models, ARR/MRR tracking, deferred revenue, and multi-element arrangements)</li> <li>Proven ability to strengthen internal controls and optimize accounting processes in a fast-growing organization</li> <li>Experience managing the full accounting cycle, month-end close, payroll and year-end processes with a focus on accuracy and timeliness</li> <li>Experience managing or mentoring a small accounting team and collaborating cross-functionally (Finance, Sales, Operations, People)</li> <li>Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into clear insights for leadership decision-making</li> <li>High level of autonomy and owne ...
