Job Description: Job Description – Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics Engineer ABOUT THE POSITION: The Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics Center (RMDC) is a mission-critical global team that operates as the first point of contact for diagnosing and resolving issues across Fluence’s worldwide Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) fleet. The RMDC ensures 24/7/365 operational availability and performance of energy storage sites by managing incidents, coordinating timely maintenance, and performing proactive monitoring and diagnostics remotely. This role is central to the safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance of the most advanced energy storage assets in the world. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: As a part of the RMDC, you will: Experience: ~3 years Certifications: RHCSA (Required) RHCE (Optional, in progress or has it) CCNA or Basic Networking Technical Skills / Core Competencies: Deep experience with Ubuntu Server administration: installation, configuration, package management, service management. Proficient in RAID configuration (both hardware and software RAID) – setting up RAID on HP servers. Solid knowledge of HP server hardware: ProLiant series, ability to interface with iLO, firmware updates, health monitoring. Experience with LVM configuration: creating, resizing, snapshots, etc. Expertise in NFS: server & client setup, performance tuning, permissions/sharing. Patch management on Linux: Applying security patches; managing repositories; ensuring systems are up to date. Access management: Users/groups; sudo rules; permissions; file system ACLs. LDAP: Setup, integration for centralized authentication (Ubuntu LDAP); maintaining ldaps, backups etc. Log management: syslog, journalctl, logrotate, central log aggregation. Service management: systemd, upstart (if working on older Ubuntu), start/stop/restart services, failure recovery. Troubleshooting: Networking issues, disk failures, service failures, boot problems, RAID rebuilds, performance issues. Soft/Other Skills: Good documentation skills. Strong analytical & problem solving. Ability to work under pressure (downtime, critical servers). Team player, communicates well with other infra/dev teams. Sample Accomplishments / Projects: Migrated several HP ProLiant servers from Ubuntu 18.04 → 20.04 with zero downtime for critical applications. Implemented automated patching schedule across all Ubuntu servers; reduced security vulnerabilities by X%. Set up centralized LDAP system for 50 servers; integrated user login, sudo via LDAP. Designed and implemented log aggregation via syslog server; improved ability to detect and respond to issues. SHIFT & TEAM STRUCTURE: - Based in Bangalore, working in a 24/7 rotational shift model including weekends and holidays - Part of a global critical response team responsible for uninterrupted remote site management year-round - Support is provided to all Fluence assets across Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering (BSEE, BSME, BSCE), or Licensed Electrician - Minimum 2-3 years of experience in remote O&M or technical support roles in Energy Storage, Power Generation, or Industrial Automation - Proven hands-on experience in monitoring and remote troubleshooting of: • Battery Management Systems (BMS) • Advanced Power Conversion Systems (PCS) / Inverters • HVAC and Cooling Systems • Ubuntu/Linux OS Servers (RHCSA certified) • Cisco networking devices (CCNA ...
