We don’t just build features; we build the tools and frameworks that allow dozens of other product teams to scale. This team owns the <strong>Design System</strong>, <strong>CI/CD pipelines</strong>, and the <strong>Modularization</strong> of our Web and Mobile codebases. As the leader of this group, you will manage a team of 15-20 engineers (including tech leads and managers) to define the vision for how Verkada's software feels, performs, and scales.</p> <h3><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></h3> <ul> <li><strong>Architectural Strategy:</strong> Lead the multi-quarter effort to modularize our Web (React) and Mobile (Native) codebases to support a rapidly growing engineering org.</li> <li><strong>Platform Vision:</strong> Define the future of our client-side stack, evaluating and driving adoption of new technologies (e.g., Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP), advanced WebView integration, or specialized build tooling).</li> <li><strong>Manage Managers:</strong> Lead and mentor a high-performing team of 15-20, including Engineering Leads and sub-managers, focusing on career growth and high-output delivery.</li> <li><strong>Standardize the Craft:</strong> Own the Verkada Design System and CI/CD infrastructure, ensuring that "Quality by Default" is a reality for every frontend and mobile engineer in the company.</li> <li><strong>Technical Deep-Dive:</strong> Act as a high-level technical partner. While you won't be expected to ship production code daily, you will be expected to dive deep into technical designs, challenge architectural decisions, and maintain a high bar for engineering excellence.</li> <li><strong>Collaborative Leadership:</strong> Partner with the Director of Core Platform and other stakeholders to align the platform roadmap with Verkada’s aggressive product expansion goals.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>What You Bring</strong></h3> <ul> <li><strong>Proven Leadership:</strong> 10+ years of experience in engineering management, specifically with experience managing other managers or leads.</li> <li><strong>Platform Expertise:</strong> You have previously led "Platform," "Core," or "Infrastructure" teams where your primary customers were other engineers.</li> <li><strong>Technical Depth:</strong> Extensive experience with <strong>React</strong> on the web and a strong understanding of <strong>Native Mobile (Swift/Kotlin)</strong> ecosystems.</li> <li><strong>Modernization Experience:</strong> You have successfully led large-scale architectural shifts, such as moving from a monolith to a modularized architecture or implementing a company-wide Design System.</li> <li><strong>Grit Vision:</strong> You are excited by the challenge of 5-days-per-week onsite collaboration and thrive in a fast-paced environment where you must balance long-term technical health with immediate product needs.</li> <li><strong>Education:</strong> BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field.</li> </ul> </div ...
