About the team Our team’s mission is to build cutting-edge advertising technology to support and help grow sustainable advertising business. The team owns server technologies, reporting infrastructure, data, cloud services, and test engineering for the advertising platforms within Roku. We also work closely with internal and external customers to help them achieve their advertising goals. About the role We are looking for an experienced manager to help grow the team, manage priorities, and communicate with stakeholders in an effective way. The role requires excellent communication skills in addition to a strong engineering background. The ideal candidate will have endless curiosity and can pair a global mindset with locally relevant execution. You should be a gritty problem solver and self-starter who can drive programs with the product and commercial teams within Roku and across external strategic partner organizations. The successful candidate will display a balance of hard and soft skills, including the ability to respond quickly to changing business needs. What you’ll be doing Help grow the engineering team Build scalable, resilient, and performant distributed systems for data processing, reporting and analytics Work across engineering teams, data science, and product management to influence the direction of work and architecture Communicate with internal stakeholders to inform and influence requirements and delivery Take complete ownership of impactful initiatives and make pragmatic technical decisions. Stakeholder management, developing good understanding of advertising business needs, building domain knowledge to understand systems and data better We’re excited if you have 15+ years engineering experience working with modern big data technologies: Spark, Airflow, Scala, Java python, relational databases and related technologies 6+ years’ experience leading technical teams and large-scale data processing systems Experience building, growing and managing teams Subject matter expertise in advertising and data processing Solid understanding of data engineering, big data technologies, analytics and data science Strong communication skills Self-motivated individual with a high level of accountability and ownership Critical thinker and practical decision maker Can do, results-oriented mindset Nonpolitical, collaborative, and team oriented Our Hybrid Work Approach Roku fosters an inclusive and collaborative envi ...
