And it’s why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it’s worth paying for. </strong></p> </div> </div> </div> </div></div><p data-pm-slice="1 1 []"><strong>About the Role, Mission or Department Overview</strong></p> <p>The New York Times is looking for a curious analyst to dive into advertising analytics and the optimization challenges in our digital and print advertising business.</p> <p>As our Business Data Analyst, you will serve the Advertising and Sales teams. You will analyze our products and their supporting data sources, using insights to help innovate and optimize our sales efforts. Additionally, you will oversee print advertising, pricing strategy, and discounting approvals. You will partner with Ad Product, Sales, Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, and Finance to provide sales performance, trend insights, and print pricing strategies. You will report to the Manager, Business Analytics.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>You will analyze advertising and sales datasets to optimize overall performance, performance through building and monitoring dashboards that provide strategic optimization alerts and recommendations.</p> </li> <li> <p>You will manage ad hoc reporting requests from across the ad sales team and partners, including campaign management, sales planning, and sales operations.</p> </li> <li> <p>You will provide key business insights and actionable analysis to Sales, Advertising, and Product leadership based on performance trends.</p> </li> <li> <p>You will manage pricing strategy for all print products, including approving discounts and price optimization.</p> </li> <li> <p>You will work with print plant leadership to track print advertising costs vs. revenue and lead print advertising profitability.</p> </li> <li> <p>You will demonstrate support and understanding of our <a href="https://www.nytco.com/company/mission-and-values/" target="_blank">value of journalistic independence</a> and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.</p> </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Basic Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>1+ years of experience in a yield role</p> </li> <li> <p>SQL Proficiency</p> </li> <li> <p>Advanced Excel Proficiency (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, Complex Formulas)</p> </li> <li> <p>1+ years of experience with Data Visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Mode, Looker)</p> </li> <li> <p>1+ years of experience working with both business and technical (IT) teams</p> </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>BA/BS in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field</p> </li> </ul> <p>REQ-019630</p><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="title">The annual base pay range for this role is between:</div><div class="pay-range"><span>$75,000</span><span class="divider"></span><span>$85,000 USD</span></div></div></div><div class="content-conclusion"><p>For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted sto ...
