And it’s why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it’s worth paying for. </strong></p> </div> </div> </div> </div></div><p></p> <h3 data-pm-slice="1 1 []">About the Role</h3> <p>The Quality Engineering team at The New York Times is hiring a QA Engineer. <span class="hl-green-solid warn" data-highlight-id="c7756f233978dd9381aa8c9488679626-0">You will</span> work with software engineers, DevOps, product managers, and designers to support quality across our web, mobile, and API platforms.</p> <p><span class="hl-green-solid warn" data-highlight-id="b766eccafd2227d885209c46f80a504a-0">You will</span> develop automated test frameworks, strengthen CI/CD reliability, and improve release confidence through scalable automation practices.</p> <p>This role is hybrid and based in New York City, with an expectation of two days per week in the office. You will <span class="hl-green-solid warn" data-highlight-id="74b637ee5b6949d3292268abf4c967f3-0">report to the Senior QA Manager</span>.</p> <h2>Responsibilities:</h2> <ul> <li> <p>Design automated testing frameworks in Python for APIs, web, and mobile applications</p> </li> <li> <p>Develop and integrate automated test workflows into CI/CD pipelines</p> </li> <li> <p>Improve test reliability, execution speed, and coverage across environments</p> </li> <li> <p>Develop scalable test environments using containerization and cloud infrastructure</p> </li> <li> <p>Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and product teams to define test strategies early in the development lifecycle</p> </li> <li> <p>Integrate logging, monitoring, and metrics into testing workflows to improve defect detection and release confidence</p> </li> <li> <p>Contribute to documentation and standards for automation and TestOps</p> </li> </ul> <h2>Basic Qualifications:</h2> <ul> <li> <p><span class="hl-green-solid warn" data-highlight-id="b98271065e8ae1d0347b4b70ca593c6e-0">3 years of experience</span> in test automation, software engineering, or quality engineering</p> </li> <li> <p>Proficiency in Python and experience building maintainable automation frameworks</p> </li> <li> <p><span class="hl-green-solid warn" data-highlight-id="8471405c2d69f76a03bece577c699cbc-0">3 years of experience</span> with modern test automation tools such as PyTest, Playwright, Selenium, or Appium</p> </li> <li> <p><span class="hl-green-solid warn" data-highlight-id="97275ad7d4777d813db58c762d5aadc8-0">3 years of experience</span> testing REST, GraphQL, or gRPC APIs</p> </li> <li> <p>Hands-on experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI)</p> </li> <li> <p><span class="hl-green-solid warn" data-highlight-id="c1d5bf722ff494c18c4d9cdcea48aeba-0">3 years of experience</span> with Docker and familiarity with Kubernetes</p> </li> <li> <p><span class="hl-green-solid warn" data-highlight-id="d3d7d0c1056582977e4b5e8b3a86a110-0">3 years of experience</span> working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)</p> </li> </ul> <h2><span class="hl-red-solid delete" data-highlight-id="92480b13f0292e6660f12bb32029db6b-0">Preferred Q ...
