As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.</span></p></div><p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>About the role:</strong></span></p> <p>We are looking for a Mobile Engineering Manager to lead two high-impact mobile pods:</p> <ol> <li><strong>Mobile Platform</strong> – Owns cross-platform strategy, build systems, CI/CD, performance optimization, reliability, observability, and architectural evolution.</li> <li><strong>Mobile Product </strong>– Owns end-customer feature development (e.g., messaging, workflows, dashboards) with high product velocity and quality.</li> </ol> <p>This leader will balance long-term architectural rigor with near-term product delivery, ensuring Samsara’s mobile apps are scalable performant while providing intuitive delightful experiences for customers operating in the physical world.</p> <p>This role requires strong technical judgment, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to build a culture of engineering excellence. This role reports to the VP, Engineering and supports 13-14 engineers</p> <p>This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US or Canada. <br><br></p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>In this role, you will own: </strong></span></p> <h4><strong>1. Mobile Platform Strategy</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Define and evolve cross-platform strategy (Native vs React Native vs Compose/KMP)</li> <li>Improve build systems, CI times, and developer productivity</li> <li>Establish performance SLOs (launch time, page load, memory, crash-free sessions)</li> <li>Drive architectural simplification and reduce tech fragmentation</li> <li>Introduce AI-assisted SDLC tooling where impactful</li> <li>Ensure mobile scalability for IoT-heavy, real-time use cases</li> </ul> <h4><strong>2. Product Delivery Excellence</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Lead customer-facing feature development (e.g., messaging, fleet workflows)</li> <li>Partner closely with Product Design to deliver high-quality mobile experiences</li> <li>Balance feature velocity with platform health</li> <li>Drive disciplined engineering practices (PR reviews, testing, observability)</li> </ul> <h4><strong>3. Team Leadership Talent Development</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Manage ~13-14 engineers across 2 pods</li> <li>Hire and retain high-performing mobile engineers</li> <li>Develop senior ICs and future tech leads</li> <li>Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and technical rigor</li> <li>Coach engineers to improve system design and execution skills</li> </ul> <h4><strong>4.
